Gardai launch appeal after van leaves scene of Laois crash

Gardaí are on the scene following the incident

Gardai are appealing for information following an incident in Portarlington overnight.

Gardai say there was a road traffic collision on Portlaoise Road/Foxcroft Street in Portarlington on Sunday morning.

The incident is reported to have happened around 2am.

A white van, possibly a Combi/Caddy left the scene.

Gardai say that extensive damage is expected to have happened to the front of this vehicle.

This was caused after it hit a taxi that was carrying no passengers at the time. The taxi was driving straight towards a T-junction.

Thankfully, there were no injuries but there is extensive damage to the passenger side of the taxi.
