CCFL U-19s Cup Final

Emo Celtic U-19s completed a remarkable season as the captured the CCFL Cup on Saturday in Abbeyleix.

This game pitted together two Laois teams who operated in separate divisions in the league.

Portlaoise B were in Division 1 where they won it after pipping another Laois team, Clonaslee United, by two points.

Emo Celtic were in the Premier Division and won every single game to finish the season with a 100 per cent record.

Indeed, the only game that the Emo men didn’t win this year was an LFA Cup fourth round tie with Nurney Villa from Carlow.

As for Portlaoise, they can be also proud of their season as they won the CCFL Division 1 title and enjoyed a brilliant cup run with wins over Premier sides Mullingar and Clongowes Wood on their way to the final.

Emo Celtic started this game well and held a 2-0 lead at the break thanks to goals from Jack Owens and Mark Barry.

They continued to go forward and  scored three more in the second half from Cian Doyle, Tom Kelly and a second from Mark Barry.

A superb year for this Emo Celtic team who have gone through the CCFL season unbeaten in both the league and the cup
