Gardai appeal for information following armed robbery in Portlaoise

Gardai are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a petrol station in Portlaoise.

The incident happened on Sunday May 13 at 6.15pm in the evening at the Campus Oil filling station on the Mountmellick Road.

Two males entered the shop and one of them was carrying a knife.

The other male went behind the till. He jumped over the counter and told a staff member to open the till.

He threatened the staff member with a knife. The pair them stole a quantity of cigarettes and money from the till.

Speaking on Midlands 103, Crime Prevention Officer Graham Kavanagh said: “This was 6.15pm in the evening on a busy stretch of road.

“If you are saw anyone acting suspiciously or are aware of who was involved, please contact Portlaoise Garda Station.”
