17 Laois men to travel 196km for local hospice foundation

Seventeen members of Ballyfin Vintage Club are travelling 196km over four days to raise funds for the Laois Hospice Foundation.

They will be leaving from Ballyfin to Innishshannon, Co. Cork this Thursday May 31 and finishing on Sunday June 3.

This a new venture for the men who have been involved in vintage rallies and raising funds for Laois Hospice for many years through bucket collections.

Jim Kelly from Kilcoke is one of the men driving the 196km. He explained that they had to find new ways to raise money for the vital service.

“We used to raise money through street collections, but we’re not able to do that any more, so we came up with this,” said Jim.

€12,000 raised so far

Paddy O’Connor is the organiser of run. “This is our first time to do a run this big,” said Paddy. “We’ve €12,000 raised so far and hoping to raise more.”

Donations to the Tractor Run can be made out to Ballyfin Vintage club or directly to Laois Hospice Foundnation.
