Some of the items dumped at Castlecuffe

Help is being sought from locals in Clonaslee to track down culprits responsible for overnight dumping in the area.

The incident occurred at Castlecuffe in Clonaslee sometime between late last night and early this morning.

Gardaí are seeking information from the local community on where the material came from.

Any information can be passed on to gardaí or Laois County Council.

The rubber mesh material was dumped in ditches in Castlecuffe.

The latest incident comes as it emerged recently that Laois County Council is stepping up its campaign against illegal dumping.

The Council recently purchased special litter detection cameras which  led to 33 incidences where people have been caught dumping.

The council also plans to use drones in the battle to counteract dumping of litter in the county.
