The second game in O’Moore Park last night resulted in glory for Ballyroan-Abbey.
Liam Irwin’s side got the better of Lar Wall’s Kilcruise in a low scoring affair.
Both sides were guilty of kicking poor wides in either half with the game hinging on Ballyroan’s ability to convert goal chances.
They only read had the one and it fell to Diarmuid Whelan who rattled the far corner of the net.
Kilcruise created several over the course of the hour and had a great chance to draw level towards the end of the second half when Ross Munnelly was fouled for a penalty.
He sent keeper Paudie McDonald the wrong way but dragged his shot wide of the post.
That was the let off Ballyroan-Abbey needed as they stood firm and saw out the win.
Attentions now turn to the championship where Arles-Kilcruise take on 2016 champions Stradbally while Ballyroan-Abbey face Portarlington.
