Air ambulance at the scene of accident outside Portlaoise

An Air Ambulance has attended the scene of an accident outside Portlaoise this evening following an incident involving a young man on a bike in Dysart Woods.

It’s believed the man got into difficulty and emergency services were called to the well-known recreation spot.

It is located directly opposite the Rock of Dunamaise between Stradbally and Portlaoise.

A number of fire engines are at the scene also.

An eye witness said that the helicopter circled the area a number of times before landing twice and going up again.

It has since landed and it appears that has taken the man to hospital.

Dysart Woods is a popular beauty spot regulary used by families and walkers.

It recently hosted one of the walks in the annual Laois Walks Festival.
