Need to stop speed in Clonaslee and road repairs around the county

The issue of speeding on the Tullamore road, Clonaslee came up at the recent Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal district meeting.

Cllr Semaus McDonald tabled a notice of motion for speed ramps, flashing lights and a pedestrian crossing to be installed on the busy road.

“There’s a lot of movement there, cars are flying up and down,” said cllr McDonald.

In a written statement, the senior engineer for Road Design Mr Farhan Nasiem said: “Laois County Council will be applying for funding under the Low Cost safety scheme in 2019 to address safety issues at this location.”


Repairs to be carried out in Rosenallis and Kilcavan

Road repairs are to be carried out in Gurteen, Rosenallis and Coolagh, Kilcavan within the next two weeks.

The motion for repairs was raised by cllr David Goodwin and seconded by cllr Paddy Bracken.


New road signs in Camross

A ‘slow down’ sign and a ‘children at play’ will be erected at Derrycarrow, Camross.

The notice of motion was raised by cllr Seamus McDonald at the latest Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal district meeting.


Repair works coming to Clonaghadoo

Repair work are due to be carried out on Clonaghdoo bridge in October. These works include replacing the wall and repairing the bridge in the area.

Cllr Seamus McDonald tabled this notice of motion at the latest Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal district meeting, which was seconded by cllr Paddy Bracken.


Replacing signs in Clonaslee

The chevron sign on the Birr Road, Clonaslee is set to be replaced in two weeks time. The issue of the sign outside of Troy’s in Clonaslee was raised by cllr Paddy Bracken on Friday, September 21 at the Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick Municipal district meeting.
