Laois resident lands opportunity of a lifetime for international company

A Mountmellick resident has landed the opportunity of a lifetime as a US Global Graduate for Tullamore D.E.W.

Mountmellick’s Oisin Hanlon has been appointed by Tullamore D.E.W., the world’s second best-selling Irish whiskey, as the brand’s new Florida Global Graduate.

Oisin is one of only seven successful candidates to secure a place from applicants all across the country this year.

Oisin is joined by Hannah Wallace, Lorna O’Reilly, Niamh Mullins, Shane Groarke, Garreth Chambers and Mark O’Sullivan, all chosen for their blend of confidence, charisma and commercial focus.

What’s in store for the graduates

The talented recruits will head to major cities in the US, including Boston, San Diego and Denver, embarking on an 18-month programme, advocating Irish whiskey and Tullamore D.E.W., in particular.

With sales of Irish whiskey jumping nearly 13% to $897 million in the US last year, the new graduates will help shape conversation on the hugely successful Irish export.

No day will be the same, with the new graduates tasked with building advocacy for Irish whiskey across the United States.

They’ll focus on telling the story of Irish whiskey to US bartenders, media and consumers through Tullamore D.E.W. tastings, immersion sessions and local events.

William Grant Global Brand Director, Irish and American Whiskey & Trailblazer Brands, Chin Ru Foo said: “We’re excited to welcome these exceptional new recruits to the Tullamore D.E.W. family.

“It’s so important for Tullamore D.E.W. to recognise and champion the phenomenal young talent in Ireland today.

“We believe that a blended world, with blended cultures and backgrounds, is a more interesting place. Our seven graduates exemplify this Beauty of Blend by bringing the unique spirit of Ireland to an American audience – an audience that continues to fall even more in love with Irish whiskey.”

“This unique opportunity for the talented Irish graduates was offered through the IBEC/Bord Bia Export Orientation Programme (EOP),” said Mr Foo.

The IBEC Export Orientation Programme (EOP) combines an International Business Diploma with a placement. It is renowned as Ireland’s longest-running and most successful graduate placement programme, providing graduates of all disciplines with an invaluable introduction to international business.
