Calls for safety measures near GAA Club to be carried out

One Laois county councillor has called for road safety measures to be carried out in a GAA club in the county.

Cllr James Kelly raised the issue of carrying out road safety measures at Trumera Cross and the nearby GAA club.

He stated that from last year’s budget €30,000 should be available at the latest Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick municipal district meeting.

“That area is very busy,” he added, highlighting the new national school beside the community centre adding to the numbers travelling to and from the area.

Senior engineer Stan Cullen said, “This location will be assessed. Any road safety issues will be referred to Road Design.”

The motion was seconded by cllr Brendan Phelan.
