Former Crettyard Ladies footballers came out in large numbers to celebrate the club’s successes on Saturday, January 12.
Some travelled from Cork , Donegal, Wexford and Tullamore to celebrate the great fortunes of the club over the past 40 years.
The club had major success winning several Senior and underage titles but the highlight was winning Leinster titles in 1979, 1980 and 1993.
There was huge celebrations with all of the team from 25 years ago and a large number of the team from 40 years ago in attendance on the night.
Players proudly displayed their coveted Leinster medals along with photos, programmers and newspaper clippings from the golden era.
The stories went on long into the night after a special presentation was made to founder member Mary Wheatley, who also was surprised with a huge Birthday cake to celebrate her upcoming 80th birthday on Thursday, January 17.
Mary along with Nancy Lennon were the masterminds behind setting up this famous club over 46 years ago.
Nancy played a vital role in the club in its early days both on and off the field winning Leinster medals in 1979 and 1980 and continued to support the club after her playing career.
Mary was Chairperson of the Club for over 20 years and continued in her role as administrator with LGFA holding positions of County Chairperson, Leinster President and was the first lady President of the LGFA association as well as several other positions on the National executive throughout her career.
Memories of a wonderful night will remain with this special bunch of people for a very long time.
