Back in August, Portlaoise boxer TJ Doheny did what very few Irish men have managed to do – win a World Title.
There was stunned silence in Tokyo as Doheny claimed the IBF super-bantamweight belt following a unanimous decision win over Ryosuke Iwasa.
And tonight, in the early hours of Saturday morning in fact, Doheny makes the first defence of his belt against Ryohei Takahashi.
Doheny faces another foe from Japan in the form of Takahashi, who has battled his way up the IBF rankings with five straight victories.
However, the Portlaoise man is hotly tipped to regain his crown as bookies have priced him at 1/50 to do so.
The bout takes place on the undercard of Demetrius Andrade v Artur Akavov and it will be live on TV.
