Coldest week of the year expected as temperatures to hit minus five degrees

Met Éireann are warning that this week is set to be the coldest week of the year so far, with temperatures expected to hit minus five degrees.

According to the latest updates by the national forecaster, it is set to freeze and maybe even snow for the next couple of days.

On Monday, the lowest temperatures look to be around -1 to +2 degrees with widespread frost.

“Tuesday will be very cold with outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow which will later clear to scattered wintry showers,” said Met Éireann.

Tuesday night is set to hit lows of -3 degrees, with hard frost setting in across the country.

Wednesday will be a night for huddling around the fire, as temperatures are expected to reach lows of -1 to -5 degrees with a severe frost.

On Thursday a spell of rain, sleet and snow will gradually clear northward to scattered wintry showers.
