Arles-Killeen begin 2019 season in style as Kelly Cup gets underway

The domestic GAA season got underway this morning as Timahoe and Arles-Killeen met in Round 1 of the Kelly Cup.

With nine teams entered this year, these sides met in the only Round 1 game that was required in Timahoe today.

The game was relatively close in the first half with Ruairi O’Connor and debutant Mark O’Connell on the scoresheet for Timahoe.

However, goals from David Warren and Sean O’Shea gave Arles-Killeen a 2-6 to 0-5 lead at half time.

Intermediate side Timahoe would manage just one more point in the second half and the game got away from them then against their senior opponents.

Jason Enright, Conor Keightley, Sean O’Shea and Tom McWey were all among the point scorers for Killeen while goals from Warren and Donie Brennan sealed a 4-14 to 0-7 win.

They now progress to face Crettyard in the quarter final next weekend.

Defending champions O’Dempsey’s have not entered this year so we will have a new winner.

Quarter Finals

Arles-Killeen v Crettyard
Killeshin v Graiguecullen
St Joseph’s v Ballylinan
Arles-Kilcruise v Stradbally
