LaoisToday Instagram tournament to crown Mr Valentine 2019 reaches final

For those of you who follow us on Instagram, you will have noticed that for the past week, we have ran a competition to crown Mr Valentine 2019.

To decide who would take part in this competition, we deferred to our Hottest Men’s List from 2018.

We took the 30 Hottest Men as selected by our judging panel and paired them off FA Cup style in a series of polls over on our Instagram page.

And now just two men remain, the two Paddys – Paddy O’Sullivan from Portarlington and Paddy Downey from Portlaoise.

The top two hottest men for this year, Zach Tuohy and Johnny Mulhare, were given a bye to Round 2 while all the others were drawn in Round 1 against each other.

Ross Munnelly, Stephen Attride, James Ryan, Paddy Purcell, Graham Brody, Bernard O’Shea, Alan Burnell, Richard McElwee, Seamus Stapleton, Fran Hogan, Eoin Scully, Bobby Sweeney, Wayne Sydes, Enda Rowland, Eoghan Masterson,  Robin Foot, Paul Cotter, Aaron Forbes, Emmet Quinlan, Curtis Walsh, Hugh Finn, Paddy Dunne, Paddy Hickey, Andy McEvoy, Damien Walsh, Mark Rooney, Paddy Downey and Paddy O’Sullivan all also took part in the competition.

There were some seriously close encounters but the men progressed through the rounds where both Paddys had to fight off some serious competition.

Paddy Downey saw off Laois keeper Graham Brody in Round 1 and then got the better of AFL star Zach Tuohy in Round 2.

It was another all Portlaoise clash in the quarter final as Downey saw off Paul Cotter and he then faced Durrow funnyman Bernard O’Shea in the semi final and also triumphed by a very narrow margin.

Meanwhile, Paddy O’Sullivan defeated Bobby Sweeney in Round 1 while then going on to defeat fellow Laois footballer Ross Munnelly in Round 2 – but only after extra time when the initial vote finished level.

St Joseph’s Paddy Hickey was the next opponent for O’Sullivan and after beating him, he faced Emmet Quinlan of Borris-In-Ossory in the semi final where he once again won.

So now, over on our Instagram page, Paddy O’Sullivan and Paddy Downey are going head to head to see who will be crowned LaoisToday’s Mr Valentine 2019.

So head on over and have your say!
