All-Ireland O’Connor Cup glory for Healy’s University of Limerick

Laois ladies co-captain and half back Anna Healy was part of history this afternoon as University of Limerick captured the O’Connor Cup.

UL reached the final after Tipperary star Rosin Howard hit a hat-trick alongside Kerry’s Hannah O’Donoghue who added two more goals against a determined Queens University in yesterday’s semi-final.

The victory sent UL into their sixth straight O’Connor Cup final.

The Limerick university are 11-time winners of the competition and were last crowned champions in 2017. Finalists in last year’s competition, they were just pipped by Dublin City University for the top spot.

Today they faced UCD and they ran out convincing 2-16 to 1-10 winners.

Park-Ratheniska native Healy came on as a second half substitute and helped her side see out a fine victory.

A former student of Scoil Chriost Rí, Anna is now studying physiotherapy in the Treaty side university.

The Park-Ratheniska player was announced as Laois ladies co-captain for this year, alongside St Brigid’s woman Jane Moore.

Congratulations Anna!
