Laois ladies co-captain and half back Anna Healy will be hoping her University of Limerick football side can make history in the O’Connor Cup final today.

UL reached the final after Tipperary star Rosin Howard hit a hat-trick alongside Kerry’s Hannah O’Donoghue who added two more goals against a determined Queens University in yesterday’s semi-final.

This sends UL into their sixth straight O’Connor Cup final.

The Limerick university are 11-time winners of the competition and were last crowned champions in 2017. Finalists in last year’s competition, they were just pipped by Dublin City University for the top spot.

If UL get past today’s opponents, UCD, they can complete a double winning both women’s football and camogie this year.

A former student of Scoil Chriost Rí, Anna is now studying physiotherapy in the Treaty side university.

The Park-Ratheniska player was announced as Laois ladies co-captain for this year, alongside St Brigid’s woman Jane Moore.

The O’Connor Cup Final between UL and UCD takes place in DIT Grangegorman at 4pm.
