Laois man Martin receives Basketball Coach of the Month award

A Laois man has been chosen as the a basketball Coach for Month for March.

Portlaoise native Martin Conroy was selected as Basketball Ireland Men’s Division One Southern Conference Coach of the Month for March.

Martin is currently coaching IT Carlow and was appointed as head coach of the Ireland U20 Women’s team for 2019/2020 last September.

This is the final Basketball Ireland Players and Coaches of the Month for the 2018/19 season.

It’s was a double win for IT Carlow, as sandout star, Johnny McCarthy scooped the Player of the Month award in the Men’s Division One Southern Conference.

In the Men’s Super League, league winning head coach Pat Price  of Garvey’s Tralee Warriors earned Coach of the Month.

Belfast Star’s standout American, Mike Davis, received the Player of the Month award for the month following another phenomenal run through March, which included a whopping 49-point game against UCC Demons.

In the Women’s Super League it was a double win for Fr Mathews of Cork, with Shannon Brady winning the Player of the Month award for March while head coach, James Fleming, has scooped the Coach of the Month award.

In the Men’s Division One Northern Conference, league winners DBS Éanna came away with Stefan Zecevic getting another Player of the Month award and head coach, Darren McGovern receiving the Coach of the Month award.
