The Laois teenager brought home the top spot in both the U17 1500 metres on Saturday and U17 800 metres on Sunday.
Coach Damian Lawlor of Tullamore Harriers was full of praise for the young Scoil Chríost Rí student.
“Ava set a fast pace in the 1500m and quickly got clear of the field. She continued to force the pace throughout and ran 4.42 eight seconds ahead of second place.
“On Sunday Ava again took the lead early in the 800m and after a 31 second first lap the field quickly spread out. With Cara Laverty of Derry not far behind Ava had to push right to the finish,” he said on the Tullamore Harriers Facebook page.
Ava not only won both races, but recorded a new personal best of 2.12:5. This means that she has taken more than four seconds off her PB in 2019 and is getting closer to the European standard with each race.
This comes a mere few weeks after Ava earned a silver medal on the SIAB Schools Cross Country Internationals mixed relay team.
This year Ava hopes to make the European Youth Olympic festival in Baku in July.
Well done Ava!
