The Leinster ‘A’ rugby team jetted out to Boston over the weekend for a tournament and a Laois man was in their ranks.

Outhalf Conor Kelly has been selected for the Cara Cup which will see Leinster take on Munster ‘A’ and the New England Free Jacks.

Conor Kelly, who started playing rugby with the Portlaoise RFC, previously played Senior cup with Cistercian College Roscrea for two seasons.

He was full-back on the side that reached the cup final in 2016 before moving to out-half and captaining the side in 2017.

Kelly then joined Clontarf where he was a big part of the side that finished fifth in the AIL last year.

He also played for the Irish U19s against Japan last April and featured in our This is my Year series at Christmas.

The ‘A’ team will play their opening game against Munster on Wednesday, April 10, at Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, Massachusetts (KO 7pm local).

They will then play the New England Free Jacks on Sunday, April 14, at Harvard Mignone Field (KO 5pm local).
