Portlaoise Panthers ready to rock with ‘The Voice’ of Laois

It’s the Portlaoise Panthers basketball club main fundraiser of the year and they look set to bring down the roof of the Midlands Park Hotel with ‘The Voice’ competition on Easter Sunday, April 21.

‘The Voice’ promises to be a great night with 15 fantastic performers who are busy rehearsing with the band.

It is certainly busy times for the Panthers basketball club with teams across every age group competing in different tournaments across the country.

However with competitions come travel costs, and the fundraiser is to help contribute to these costs, as well as the cost of renting St Mary’s Hall.

Recently, three Portlaoise Panthers basketballers were announced as All-Stars for the 2018/2019 season.

Claire Melia, Jamie Sherburne and Mike Pierre were all named on the teams, as voted for by coaches in each division of the National League.

Each of the four divisions, Women’s Super and Division 1 and Men’s Super and Division 1, have selected three teams of five players.

However the basketball stars will be hoping to turn into pop stars for one night only as they hope to be crowned ‘The Voice’.

Tickets are now available from committee members, Paul O’Connell on 0831974728 or for purchase in Phelan’s Shop, Top Square, Portlaoise.

Tickets cost €20 for this great night of entertainment.
