Laois singer wins Female Artist of the Year at national country awards

A Laois native has won ‘Female Artist of the Year’ at this year’s Hot Country Sky TV awards.

Trudi Lalor picked up the presitigious nod in the Slieve Russell Hotel, Cavan, on Monday, April 29.

The Laois native, best known for songs like, ‘Old Friends are Best’ and, ‘When I Grow to Old to Dream’, attended the awards ceremony along with the likes of Nathan Carter, Mike Denver, Cliona Hagan and many more.

Trudi, who now resides in Cashel, Tipperary, was also named the 2019 Female Entertainer of the Year winner at the Sunday World Country Music & Entertainment Awards.

The former St Brigidine Convent student has also just released her version of one of history’s most timeless classics, ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, with all proceeds going to the charity, Feileacain.

Feileacain offers support to anyone affected by the death of a baby during pregnancy, or shortly after.

This wonderful charity was set up by a group of bereaved parents who, through their own experiences, felt that need exist for such an organisation in Ireland.

This prize lends further testimony to the theory that Trudi is not only a supreme performer but also a superb creative talent on the Irish music scene.
