Graffiti removed from beloved Laois landmark after ‘criminal’ damage done last month

Last month, LaoisToday revealed pictures of shocking vandalism on one of Laois’s most loved tourist attractions.

The Rock of Dunamase was the scene of a graffiti attack last month.

Since then, the graffiti has been removed from the landmark.

The letters ‘DREVM’ and ‘SSG’ were painted on the walls of the historic building – and it is unclear what these actually mean.

Gardaí since opened an investigation into what they say is criminal damage.

Gardai say: “Gardai at Portlaoise are investigating incidents of criminal damage to the historical Rock of Dunamase.

“The graffiti appears to have occurred over the past two weeks.

“We are appealing to any member of the public that may recognise the ‘tags’ or initials or may have information to contact Portlaoise at 0578674100.”
