It was a relatively busy Sunday evening on the GAA pitches around the county with games in both hurling and football.
St Conleth’s made history as they were crowned Ladies League champions for the very first time after defeating Sarsfields while the Laois U-16s were beaten by Louth in the Leinster Ladies ‘C’ final.
In Division 2 of the men’s football league, Clonaslee won their fourth game on the bounce as seven points from teenager Ryan Kilroe along with a brace of Cian Barrett goals and another from Jack Owens saw them thrash The Heath.
The top of the table clash between Portarlington and Portlaoise saw the away side emerge victorious after a six goal thriller.
Rosenallis hammered O’Dempsey’s while the parish clash between Timahoe and Annanough ended in a nine point win for Timahoe.
Mick Ramsbottom kicked 1-4 for Timahoe while Mark O’Connell and Ruairi O’Connor also featured in a 1-18 to 1-9 victory.
Meanwhile, Clonad came from ten points down to secure their first point of Division 2 in hurling following a seven goal thriller with Mountmellick.
