Design team wanted for Kolbe Special School

Requests for Tender for Design Team Consultants for Kolbe Special School has been issued on eTenders this morning.

The closing date is Monday June 17, 2019 at 4pm.

Laois TD and Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan has said that Kolbe Special School has been included in the Department of Education’s Adapt II programme for the fast-track design/planning of the project.

Speaking this morning, Minister Flanagan stated: “I have received confirmation from Mr Joe Mc Hugh, Minister for Education and Skill that a Requests for Tender for Design Team Consultants issued on eTenders this morning.

“I understand that School principal Orlagh Mahon has been contacted and site visit dates were agreed.”

Kolbe Special School roughly 40 students under the age of 18 who have severe and profound intellectual disabilities.

This waiting time for a new building for Kolbe has been a long process.

Kolbe has been the subject of much discussion at local level, as the conditions of the building have been highlighted as below par for those being educated and teaching in the school.
