Laois clubs make great start to Feile and Friday’s Laois GAA results

Four of the five Laois clubs involved in the All-Ireland hurling and camogie Feile in Cork this year are firmly in the hunt for cup quarter final spots following the commencement of the group stages this evening.

Camross are competing in Division 2 of the hurling this year and they have enjoyed two big wins in their first two games.

Eoghan Cuddy, Conor Mortimer, Kevin Byrne and Ben Deegan have all been to the fore for Camross so far and they face Youghal in the morning with qualification for the cup quarter final later tomorrow already in the bag.

The remaining two hurling teams, Na Fianna and Raheen Parish Gaels, have fared differently. Na Fianna will play in the Division 4 shield quarter final tomorrow evening after defeats to Eire Og and Clonlara.

Raheen Parish Gaels lost their first Division 8 game to Ballinora but defeated Longford side Wolfe Tones in their final game of the evening.

They take on Bishopstown in their final group game in the morning where the winner will reach the cup quarter final.

Meanwhile, our two camogie representatives are absolutely flying it.

After two superb wins, The Harps go into the final round against Kilbrittan/Timoleague with a clean sweep and have one foot in a Division 2 cup quarter final.

While Camross, operating in Division 4, also recorded two wins from two games. They had a routine win over Eire Og but Waterford’s De La Salle proved a far different proposition.

They led by 1-1 to no score at half time but Camross came back to produce a stunning comeback and win by four points.
