Gardai launch appeal after knife-wielding teenager charged with attempted robbery in Laois

Gardai are appealing for members of the public to provide information to them after a teenager was charged with attempted robbery following two incidents in Laois at the weekend.

The two incidents occurred at business premises, a newsagents and a convenience store, in Portarlington on Saturday June 15 between 5.15pm and 5.40pm.

During the course of these, a lone male attempted to rob cash from the establishments.

Gardaí in Portarlington in responding to both incidents subsequently arrested a 19-year-old male who was subsequently charged.

He will be appearing before Portlaoise District Court.

A Garda spokesperson said: “We would like to thank the public for their assistance to date.

“We appeal to any member of the public that may have information to assist us to contact Portarlington Garda Station.”
