In Pictures: Ballinakill NS powering a green wave as they hoist sixth Green Flag aloft

Pupils at Ballinakill NS have reaped the rewards of their environmental efforts for the sixth time.

The dedicated pupils hoisted their sixth Green Flag, which encompassed Global Citizenship – Litter and Waste as its theme.

Their previous flags were awarded for Litter and Waste, Energy, Water, Travel and Biodiversity.

The Green School Committee is made up of students from third class all the way up to sixth class.

This maintenance theme enables schools to discover how Green-Schools work has positively influenced people and environments worldwide while revising the previous Litter and Waste theme.

It enabled Ballinakill NS to discover how their work on the Green-Schools programme has positively influenced people and their environments worldwide.

THe theme aims to create a knowledge and understanding about the link between environmental degradation and human rights.

Pupils learnt about sustainable development and how to create real change by acting locally and effecting a more equitable, just and sustainable world for all.

We went along to capture some photos of the day in Ballinakill NS.
