Remember the Game: Laois U14 camogie finish Leinster final all-square with Offaly in 2004

Laois 3-6 Offaly 2-9
Leinster U14 ‘B’ camogie final

A thrilling encounter in this Leinster final saw Laois and Offaly leave with everything to play for after finishing all square in Killurin 15 years ago.

Two last-gasp points from midfielder Siobhan Flannery left Offaly with a second chance to bite at the cherry in the Leinster final replay.

Laois, managed by the late Martin Moore, led by a single point margin at half-time, 1-5 to 1-4, before a goal from current Offaly aficionado Michaela Morkan helped Offaly gather a comfortable four point cushion, 2-7 to 1-6.

However the terms of the rivalry were laid out, and Laois weren’t going to go down without a fight.

Two goals in quick succession from Dawn Mortimer and Aoife Quinlan saw them sneak two points clear with 44 minutes on the clock.

Offaly put Laois’s backs to the wall for the remainder of the half. Launching a string of attacks, forcing Orla Dollard to produce a fine save at the expense of a 65′.

Siobhan Flannery, who has since led the way for Offaly camogie after breaking through to the senior team on 2007, scored.

Flannery again held her nerve to point a free on the stroke of full-time to earn a well-deserved draw at the final minute.
