LIVE BLOG: Follow all the action as Emo and Ballyroan-Abbey meet in Laois SFC replay

Brought to you in association with Sammy Kelly Builders

After a week of club hurling in Laois, attention turns to football this week, beginning with this evening’s Round 1 replay between Emo and Ballyroan-Abbey in O’Moore Park.

The sides drew seven days ago when a late goal from Nigel Murphy earned Emo a second bit at the cherry.

Murphy – a great man for scoring goals and intermediate player of the year in 2017 – scored 2-0 in the drawn game and he’ll be certainly watched closely by Ballyroan this evening.

The bulk of Ballyroan-Abbey’s scores the last day came from Laois U-20 player Diarmuid Whelan who scored 0-5 and the long-serving Padraig McMahon who hit 1-4.

The winners this evening will be back in action again on Saturday when they face Portarlington in the winners section of Round 2.

The negatives of such a quick turnaround, however, will be softened by the fact that they’ll be safe from relegation.

The losers will have an extra game to prepare for their Round 2 game – against Stradbally in O’Moore Park this coming Sunday evening.

As it stands the weekend Laois SFC fixtures are:

FRIDAY

  • St Joseph’s v The Heath at 7.45pm

SATURDAY

  • Ballyfin v Crettyard at 4.30pm
  • Courtwood v Portlaoise at 6pm
  • Portarlington v Winner of Ballyroan-Abbey/Emo at 7.30pm

SUNDAY

  • Arles-Killeen v Killeshin at 12noon
  • Arles-Kilcruise v Ballylinan at 1.30pm
  • Loser of Ballyroan-Abbey/Emo v Stradbally at 6pm
  • O’Dempsey’s v Graiguecullen at 7.30pm

But before we get to all of that, you can follow all of the action from this evening’s game in our Live Blog below.
