Last minute Whelan magic seals the deal for Ballyroan-Abbey

Ballyroan Abbey 0-9 The Harps 0-8
Laois Shopping Centre JFC Round 2 Winners

Two last gasp points from Eoghan Whelan on the 59th and 61 minute mean Ballyroan-Abbey have secured a quarter-final place in the JFC tonight.

This comes after they saw off Spink in round one and The Harps in the round two winners section in Ballyroan tonight.

In what was a low scoring affair, The Harps led seven points to four at the break.

The Harps only managed to add one more point to the tally in the second half, while Ballyroan-Abbey caught up to them through Charlie Whelan, Paudie McDonald and Aaron McEvoy.

It would be Eoghan Whelan’s shot over the posts in the 59th minute which drew the sides level, before he followed this effort up as the clock ticked over to the 61st with a second point to give Ballyroan-Abbey the win they desired tonight.
