Laois Rose Sarah Bergin to appear on TV on The Rose Of Tralee tonight

Laois Rose Sarah Bergin is set to appear on The Rose Of Tralee International Festival 2019 competition tonight.

The competition will be televised on RTÉ One at 8pm tonight and tomorrow.

The Laois Rose of Tralee for 2019 is 22-year-old student nurse Sarah Bergin.

Clonad woman Sarah Bergin wowed the crowds and each of the three judges in Castle Durrow at the Laois Rose Selection night.

Sarah is a student nurse in Galway, a talented basketball player with Moycullen in Galway and an ever-improving golfer in The Heath Golf Club.

Sarah is currently in her final year of nursing in NUI Galway.

Sarah, who was sponsored by her aunt, well known Portlaoise auctioneer Caroline Bergin, is heading down to Tralee as Ireland’s most famous family festival celebrates 60 years in existence this year, and a much-welcomed revamp is also taking place this year.

The regional qualification has been removed so that all the Roses in Tralee will feature in the TV broadcast from the final in the Dome on RTÉ.

Each Rose Centre will now select a Rose every two years, to make 32 Roses a year.

It also means that this year’s Laois Rose will serve two years in the role instead of the usual one.

This means that Laois are sending a Rose to the Dome in 2019, but it will be 2021 before the next Rose of the county is chosen.
