Laois club foootball championship fixtures hit by All Ireland final replay

We're in O'Moore Park to bring you the action live

Sunday’s thrilling All Ireland football final draw has had a knock-on effect on the Laois club championship fixtures as the replay being fixed for Saturday week, September 14, has meant a rejigging of the Laois SFC quarter-finals and IFC and JFC semi-finals.

In wanting to avoid a clash with the replay – which attracted a TV audience of over 1 million last Sunday – Laois GAA have left Saturday evening entirely free of fixtures.

It means that all four senior quarter-finals will now take place in O’Moore Park on the Sunday with games also on Friday evening and a junior and intermediate semi-final even down for decision in an unusual Monday evening slot.

The initial fixtures had a triple header scheduled for Saturday with the intermediate semi-final between Rosenallis and Portlaoise down for 4.30pm and the senior games between O’Dempsey’s and Ballyfin and Killeshin and Ballylinan fixed for 6pm and 7.30pm.

The two senior games now take place at the same time on Sunday with Portlaoise-St Joseph’s and Portarlington-Graiguecullen forming the early double-header at 12.30pm and 2pm respectively

The Rosenallis-Portlaoise IFC semi-final has been moved to Monday evening in O’Moore Park at 8pm with the other semi-final between Clonaslee and Mountmellick on at 8pm in O’Moore Park on the Friday night.

The senior relegation decider between Crettyard and The Heath is at 8pm in Stradbally on the Friday evening.

Meanwhile the draw has been made for the junior semi-finals.

Favourites Park-Ratheniska will meet the winners of Spink v Castletown who meet next Tuesday in the last quarter-final. That semi-final is currently pencilled in for the Sunday morning while the other semi-final between The Heath and O’Dempsey’s is on the Monday evening at 8pm in Stradbally.
