In Pictures: Joyous scenes as Clonaslee St Manman’s claim ladies final glory

Brought to you in association with the Manhattan Mixer

There were scenes of great joy in O’Moore Park on Saturday afternoon as the Clonaslee St Manman’s ladies football team celebrated their first championship success just a couple of years after been formed.

They won the junior title when they got the better of Ballyfin on a scoreline of 7-12 to 4-3 and will now go on to represent Laois in Leinster and play in the intermediate grade in 2020.

Hannah Russell helped herself to 2-8 in a fine individual display while Kate Conroy, Emily Corbet, Roisin Poole, Rose Dunne and Paul Keating got one goal each.

Niamh O’Rourke got two goals for Ballyfin, both from penalties, while Odile Fitzpatrick and Edel Finn got a goal apiece.

Ballyfin’s defeat means they have now lost the last three finals in this grade as despite their best efforts they just can’t get over the line.

After the game there was great scenes of celebration from the Clonaslee girls as they accepted the trophy and were joined by their families, friends and supporters to enjoy their triumph.

Our photographer Julie Anne Miller was on hand to capture a great selection of images which you can see below.

And you can also check out our Instagram story for video from the celebrations.
