This coming Saturday September 21 at 1.30pm the Laois Masters Over 40’s football team will attempt to claim some All-Ireland silverware for Lovely Laois.
Laois will play a combined team from Longford/Leitrim in Ballyleague Co Roscommon at 1.30pm in the All-Ireland Shield final, a curtain raiser to the main final between Dublin and Donegal at 3.30pm.
This year saw the return of the Masters game in Laois and sees some former Laois Gaels who represented the county at different levels combine with a number of well known club players.
Laois had impressive wins over Mayo, Kildare, Clare, Galway, Westmeath, and then unluckily narrowly lost out to Dublin and Tyrone who are very strong at the level.
These results ensured a place in the second tier final which is not the worst for the first year competing.
The Masters set up in Laois can only grow from strength to strength with the 1997 minor team of age next year!
All Laois supporters young or old are welcome to Roscommon next Saturday to support the men in Blue and White.
The Laois Masters would like to thank all those who supported the team financially and also the county board for their assistance.
Most importantly the Laois Masters must thank their Wives/Partners for releasing them to play with their beloved county.
We look forward to seeing you all there Saturday and we wish the Laois Masters the best of luck
