Leinster Intermediate Camogie Semi-final

Camross have booked their spot in the Intermediate Leinster camogie final after beating Johnstownbridge this afternoon.

Camross were dominant all over the field and were sharper than their opponents throughout.

The game was a display of simple camogie – hook, block, score.

They held the Kildare side to just two points from play, both coming in the second half.

While Camross scored just three of their points in the second half, it was enough as they march on to the Leinster final.

Six minutes into the game saw Andrea Scully score Camross’ first goal of the game.

That was followed up by two frees from Kirsten Keenan. While Siobhain Hurley hit her first free, Camross were only getting started.

Captain Sarah Anne Fitzgerald stepped up to take a free but instead drilled home the second goal for the home side.

Hurley responded with two more frees but Sarah Cuddy cancelled them out with a beauty of a goal, the third of the game.

Hurley tapped over another free for the Kildare side to leave the halftime score at 3-02 to 0-4.

The second half saw Johnstownbridge yo their tempo and they came back to within three points, but multiple missed chances and the sending off of midfielder Aisling Holten carried a big impact.

The Kildare side hit five frees over in a row to stage the beginning of a comeback.

They only trailed by three points with seven minutes of normal time left to play but a point from Scully and a free from Keenan were the safety points.

Despite Johnstownbridge threatening a possible win in the final quarter of the game, Camross showed their experience and expertise to book a spot in the final.
