Laois camogie have plenty to celebrate this year – and they duly did so in style on Saturday night in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow.
Laois won the All Ireland minor ‘B’ camogie title in May when they got the better of Limerick after a replay in Nenagh – and they also claimed Leinster glory and the U-16 Leinster ‘B’ title.
Laois’s All Ireland minor final success was their first in the grade in 19 years and was the latest triumph for a great group of players having won the U-16 ‘B’ All Ireland in 2017.
The U-16s won this year’s Leinster title but were narrowly beaten by Limerick in the All Ireland semi-final.
All in all, it was a fine season and they turned out in huge numbers to the Castle Arms to mark a great occasion.
At a local level the camogie season isn’t finished just yet.
The Laois minor camogie championship is currently ongoing while Camross will go for Leinster intermediate club glory next Sunday when they take on Offaly champions St Rynagh’s in Ashbourne.
A good year could still get better.
