Mike Quirke’s Laois footballers and Eddie Brennan’s Laois hurlers now know exactly the order that they will play their National League fixtures after the CCC confirmed the ties over the weekend.
After back-to-back promotions under John Sugrue, the Laois footballers are now in Division 2 and also under new management of Mike Quirke.
They have four away games against Roscommon, who they begin with, Clare, Westmeath and Fermanagh.
The footballers from Armagh, Cavan and Kildare will visit MW Hire O’Moore Park too and the new championship structure means there will be a stronger emphasis than ever on the league.
If Laois get relegated from Division 2, the only way they will play for the Sam Maguire is if they reach the Leinster final.
If not, Laois will compete in the newly created Tier 2 competition in the summer when their provincial campaign ends.
As for Eddie Brennan’s Laois hurlers, they will take part in the newly restructured Division 1 where they have been placed in Group B based of their 2019 performance.
There are two groups of six with the top two teams from each progressing to the semi finals while the bottom sides will playoff in a relegation final.
Laois have three home games and they begin at the end of January with the visit of Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford.
They then travel away to Dublin and Clare before facing Carlow and Kilkenny in their final two matches at home.
Certainly some very interesting fixtures to look forward to and you can check them out below:
