In Pictures: Public meeting on career options for Leaving Cert students well attended

Pauline Flanagan, one of Fianna Fáil’s general election candidates in Laois/Offaly held her first successful public meeting on Tuesday December 3 in O’ Loughlin’s Hotel, Main Street, Portlaoise.

The purpose of the Public Meeting was to give guidance to teenagers and their parents/guardians on the options available to students following their leaving certificate exams.

Pauline Flanagan said that she was delighted to welcome parents, guardians and students to the meeting.

It was a night of great informative speakers who aimed to help the students in their choices.

Mary Leech from the Education and Training Board gave a presentation on apprenticeships and Seamus McWey, Career Guidance Councillor gave help and advice to students as they embark on their next journey.

Peace Commissioner and former member of the Army, Mr Tony Flanagan spoke to people at the meeting about the benefits of joining the army from both an educational and personal point of view.

The event was very well attended and was received well by the public

Mrs Flanagan said that she looks forward to holding more events and meetings in the New Year.
