The Laois hurlers Walsh Cup adventure has been delayed by a week as their Round 1 clash with Dublin has been postponed.

Laois GAA released the news on Twitter last night that the game has been put off.

They said: “Walsh cup game Laois Senior Hurlers v Dublin scheduled for this coming Sunday is postponed and will now take place on January 8.

“Time and venue to be confirmed later.”

Laois were to travel to Parnell Park this Sunday to begin the competition but that will now not happen.

Eddie Brennan’s charges will now begin away to Carlow on Sunday December 15 at 2pm.

And the postponement now means that Laois could potentially face three games in seven days at the start of January.

They will host Westmeath in Round 2 on Sunday January 5 before then playing that refixed game on Wednesday January 8 away to Dublin.

If Laois end up top of the group, they will face either Galway, Kilkenny and Wexford in the semi finals on Sunday January 12.
