Laois school children raise vital funds for St Vincent de Paul before Chirstmas

Students from Rath Ns present Paschal McEvoy with a cheque for St Vincent de Paul

The schools have finished up for the Christmas holidays but one of them engaged in a remarkable act of kindness just before they concluded.

Rath NS, which is in Ballybrittas, held a sponsored fun run last week.

All of the boys and girls in the school took part and they raised a total of €380.

And they then chose to donate the money to St Vincent de Paul in Stradbally.

Fianna Fail Cllr Paschal McEvoy, who is the President of St Vincent de Paul, accepted the cheque from members of the student’s council.

Cllr Paschal McEvoy said: “Christmas spirit is certainly alive in these young children.

“Christmas is an incredibly busy for all in St Vincent de Paul and the money that has been raised here will be put to good use.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the children for this really kind gesture at such an important time of the year.”
