Laois swimmer nominated for Young Athlete of the Year and she needs your votes

Paralympic swimmer Nicole Turner

Online publication Her.ie have released their nominees for Sport Woman of the Year, Young Athlete of the Year and Team of the Year.

2019 has seen Irish sports women top the podium on the international stage, break national records and qualify for Tokyo Olympics.

Among ten nominees for Young Athlete of the Year is Portarlington‘s very own Nicole Turner.

17 year old Turner has won medals in the Youth Category at the 2015 British International, senior at the 2016 IPC Swimming European Open Championships and the 2018 European Para-Swimming Championships, and in the Youth final in the World Para Swimming Series in 2019.

She began swimming with her local club, Laois Marlins, before moving to senior swimming.

Turner now has her eyes set on Tokyo this year as she tries to expand her medal collection and we’ll be cheering her on all the way!

Turner is up against stiff competition but we think with the countys help she can be crowned Her Sport Young Athlete of the Year and deservedly so.

Anyone wishing to vote for Nicole can do so by clicking here.

The winners in each category will be announced on January 31.
