Ballyfin GAA set for hugely popular 6k annual walk/run

Ballyfin GAA are set to host their immensely popular annual run/walk around the grounds of the Ballyfin Demesne on Sunday, February 2 at 11.30am.

The route encompasses the beautiful grounds, buildings, woodlands, tower and the lake.

This event is also baby buggy and stroller friendly.

Great prizes can be won on the day with the first man back and first woman back receiving €100 each.

The 6K route will start in the exclusive grounds of Ballyfin House just off the main avenue where it heads through the farm buildings and up to the Tower taking in just some of the 614 acres of Parklands.

Following this avenue participants will soon catch sight of the majestic Main House, long admired as the most lavish Regency mansion in Ireland, which has recently been restored to its former glory.

The route takes you along the front of the House itself, and makes its way out the avenue where you will turn down by the ‘caves’ before meandering onto the walkway surrounding the lake.

You will make your way all around the lake taking in some of the most spectacular of views, climbing back up to the main avenue and making your way towards the ‘Main Entrance’ Gate with the finish on the avenue within the grounds.

Registering beforehand is advised to avoid disappointment. You can register here.

Some light refreshments will also be available after the event.

The Maher Family from RTE’s Ireland’s Fittest Family will be special guests on the day.

It costs €10 for an adult and €5 for anyone under 15 to enter. Families of two adults and two children can go for €20. These can be paid on the day.

Check in on the day: From 9.30-11am in the Community Hall Ballyfin.
