The Laois camogie team are back on track for 2020!

A representative of the Camogie Association confirmed this evening that Laois will compete for the 2020 season.

They said: “We’ve just received word and Laois have confirmed to us that all is back on track and they planning to fulfil fixtures as originally scheduled.”

LaoisToday understands that the team began training again on Sunday evening and over 20 players were present.

LaoisToday also understands that they are under new management but attempts to contact representatives from Laois Camogie to confirm this have been unsuccessful.

This is brilliant news for Laois camogie as just a few weeks ago it was reported that the team would have to pull out of the 2020 league and championship due to the “unavailability of players”.

Since the announcement which caused widespread outrage, the Camogie Association have been working with Laois camogie to resolve the problem – a great success in the end.

They will now fulfil all of their fixtures as originally planned.

Their first outing is on Sunday, February 9 where they will take on Antrim at home in the Littlewoods Ireland Division 2 Camogie League.
