Laois football game against Cavan OFF due to weather conditions

Today’s meeting between the Laois and Cavan senior footballers in the Allianz Football League Division 2 has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Laois GAA made the announcement that the game, due to be played in MW Hire O’Moore Park at 2pm, is postponed due to the effects of Storm Ciara earlier today.

All adult intercounty games involving Laois teams scheduled for today were called off, with the Laois camogie and Ladies football team also having their games refixed for a later date.

Over 30 senior intercounty matches were marked down for today, between the Allianz Football League, the Lidl National Football League and the Littlewoods Ireland Camogie League, although it remains to be seen how much of these will go ahead.

A status Orange weather warning is in effect until 12pm tonight. A reported 10,000 homes, farms and businesses are without electricity.

Laois have three points after their first two games in Division 2 of the league and after today were due to have a two-week break before facing Clare away on Sunday, February 23.

There is a spare weekend next weekend when the game could be pencilled in as well as on the weekend of March 7/8.

Laois play Kildare in Portlaoise on Saturday, February 29, and are away to Westmeath on Sunday, March 15, and to Fermanagh on Sunday, March 29, in the final round of games.
