Burglaries in Errill and Ballybrophy, suspicious behaviour in Stradbally and serious speed on M7

A driver was detected doing an alarming 174 km/h on the M7 in Laois, more than 50km/h above the speed limit.

The driver then failed to stop for Gardai but the the Garda helictoper was called in to assist and then stopped and arrested the man in Dublin.

If any road users encountered this vehicle or have dashcam footage which could be of assistance please contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 8674100 and ask to speak to the Roads Policing Unit.

Elsewhere, local Gardai have reported two burglaries in rural parts of Laois on Monday.

Homes in Errill and Ballybrophy were both burgled and both were vacant at the time. The robberies occurred between 12noon and 5pm.

Meanwhile, Gardai have reports of three males in a blue car suspiciously knocking on doors in Stradbally.
