The Laois club hurling scene continues this evening with championship games in the top two grades.
In MW Hire O’Moore Park, Camross meet neighbours Borris-Kilcotton in the opening round of the Laois Shopping Centre SHC while in Mountrath, Portlaoise take on Ballyfin in the opening round of the newly-named Premier Intermediate.
With Government restrictions limiting the crowds at outdoor events to 200, including players and officials, these games will be played in front of just about 100 spectators with each club getting just 50 tickets each.
It’s a highly unusual situation but then this year has been anything but normal.
Previously a Camross-Borris-Kilcotton clash even at this early stage of the championship would probably have broken the 1,000 barrier.
In any case, it will be streamed live online with Laois GAA charging €5 to watch the game.
It won’t be the same as being there but it is better than nothing.
The ever-popular LaoisToday blogs will be another way of following the action – and from both grounds.
We’ll bring you score by score updates from both with Alan Hartnett in Mountrath for us and Rory Delaney in Portlaoise.
