Paddy Hosey and Niall Sinnott were on top form as Trumera defeated Clonad by 17 points in Shanahoe this evening to reach the semi finals of the intermediate championship.

Sinnott finished with 12 points while Hosey helped himself to 1-3 – and was fouled for many of the frees which the aforementioned Sinnott converted.

It was a comprehensive win for Trumera which sees them qualify for the last four in second place while Clonad are now out.

Clonad played with the wind in the first half and they took advantage of this as Fionn Holland opened proceedings with two points in a row. However, Trumera soon replied with a goal from Paddy Hosey.

A long ball was played into Hosey and he won it above the Clonad defenders and drove towards goal. He struck the ball and his effort beat returning keeper Colin Delaney at the near post.

Clonad and Trumera continued to exchange points as Sinnott converted two frees while Micheal Kerr and Fionn Holland replied with points for Clonad. James Whelan soon pointed to leave three points separating the teams as we entered the final ten minutes of the first half.

But Trumera added another goal to their tally as Shane Murphy buried the ball into the net. A long ball was played into the square which led to a scramble for possession amongst the players. The ball eventually fell to Murphy and he made no mistake to find the back of the net.

The sides continues to swap points through Hosey, Whelan, Kerr and Cathal Brophy to leave six between the sides at the break – 2-7 to 0-7.

Trumera began the second half the stronger as they scored six points in a row to finish the game off. Sinnott scored five of these (four frees), while Brophy pointed from range.

Trumera dominated the third quarter and used the wind to their advantage to see them take a comprehensive lead over Clonad. James Whelan converted a free before the water break to leave the score 2-14 to 0-8 at that point.

After the break Trumera continued to dominate play as Paddy Hosey and Joey Coogan pointed from range.

Hosey was a constant threat for Trumera and was fouled multiple times in the second half which allowed Sinnott to add to his tally.

Clonad struggled against the wind and only managed two points as Trumera ran out convincing winners.
