Moment in Time: Rathdowney-Errill celebrate in style at Dinner Dance in 2009

Rathdowney-Errill

In 2008 Rathdowney-Errill won the Laois SHC title for the second time in three years.

Given that the club had only been formed in 2005 following the full-blown amalgamation of Rathdowney and Errill in 2005, their early successes ensured they established themselves as a power of the game in Laois almost straight away.

They beat Portlaoise in the senior final the previous October – and that success had to be celebrated.

In early 2009 they held a joyous celebratory dinner dance in the Heritage Hotel in Portlaoise, now the Midlands Park.

Club members young and old gathered to enjoy the occasion as the championship medals were presented and the various trophies won by the club that year took pride of place.

They also won the minor title that same year, the only time they have actually been successful in that grade since the clubs came together.

But at senior level they were only beginning to get going and would also claim county final glory again in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2019.

As always photographer Alf Harvey was on hand to capture a selection of great images.
