Two Laois footballers have been awarded Third Level scholarships from Leinster Ladies Gaelic Football Association.
Aoife Hyland Conlon and Jessica Byrne are two of four students selected in the province.
They will each receive €1,000 to assist them with their studies.
Hyland-Conlon, who studies in Mary I, was in goals for the Portlaoise team who made history last year by winning their first ever Laois senior football championship.
While Jessica Byrne, who studies in UCD, plays for St Brigid’s in Laois.
The news was revealed on the Leinster LGFA Facebook page and they congratulated both girls.
They said: “Leinster LGFA would like to thank all those who applied for their 3rd Level Scholarship.
“We are delighted to announce the recipients of this year’s Scholarships.
“The recipients will each receive €1,000 to assist them as they balance college with their activities with Ladies Gaelic Football – at club, county, provincial and national levels.”
